When you purchase a GREENS mixer you are buying a product designed for Australian conditions and conforming to the latest government standards including Water Efficiency Labelling Standard (WELS). Most GREENS mixers carry a 4 star or 3 star rating. The QL cartridge used in most of the extensive range of single lever kitchen, basin and shower mixers incorporates a number of unique features including back-flow protection, anti-scald and flow control regulation and the optional capability to operate on gravity fed systems.

Safety Measures

This cartridge allows you to personally set the maximum temperature of the water that comes out of these mixers. METHVEN WATER SAVING SHOWERS
Our shower spray patterns operate effectively with a flow regulation device, so you can enjoy your shower in the way you like whilst also knowing you are using less water and energy.
‘3 Star’ WELS rating showers release a maximum of 9 litres of water per minute, in comparison to the standard showers with full flow that release 22 litres per minute, saving up to 50% of water and energy.
METHVEN WATER-SAVING TAPWARE
Methven allows you to regulate the maximum water flow from tapware with adjustable cartridges to minimise water wastage. Our ceramic discs are also a permanent solution against dripping.
Like our showers, most basin and sink mixers for the bathroom, kitchen and laundry also come with a ‘3 Star’ WELS water saving guarantee. This means that less water is used and less water needs to be heated therefore saving you money, as well as protecting Australia’s precious resource.
Introducing the Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards Scheme
In 2006 Australia introduced a new water efficiency labelling scheme to assist people to purchase, and to encourage industry to produce more water efficient products.
The water efficiency labels form part of the Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards (WELS) Scheme being implemented cooperatively by the Australian, State and Territory Governments.
Choosing a water efficient product will not only conserve water, it will save householders money through reduced water and energy bills. A standard showerhead may use 22 litres of water per minute but a ‘3 Star’ rated showerhead uses as little as 9 litres per minute.
Labels will display from 1 to 6 stars, with more stars meaning the product is more water efficient. Some products may also be labelled with a “Zero Star Rated” label, which indicates that the product is either not water efficient or does not meet basic performance requirements.
Who Governs the WELS Scheme
The WELS Act allows the Federal Australian Minister for the Environment and Heritage to declare that certain types of products must be labelled and the standards that they must comply with. All products required to be labelled are first required to be registered.
What This Means for Methven
Methven showers and tapware that used to feature a ‘AAA’ rating now feature a WELS “Star” rating. All products are still achieving the same water saving properties and have been for over 25 years!
